Chris Tarrant's estranged wife Ingrid seemed in positive spirits despite her recent troubles as she took part in the Great North Run on Sunday. The 51-year-old was photographed smiling and chatting warmly with the other participants as she ran 13 miles in an effort to raise money for cancer charity Marie Curie.

While Ingrid was doing her bit for a good cause up in Newcastle, Chris sent an employee to collect some of his belongings from the family home in Surrey.

The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? presenter's driver arrived at the £1.5 million mansion which the TV star shared with his family until recently. The chauffeur spent around ten minutes inside before emerging with two bags of clothes and some fishing equipment which he loaded into the car before driving away.

Chris and Ingrid decided to go their separate ways last month after the 50-year-old celeb confessed to having a lengthy affair with deputy head teacher Fiona McKechnie. Both parties appear determined to keep relations on a civil footing, though, and the ITV host offered some words of praise for his wife after learning she had completed the Great North Run for charity.

"I think Ingrid has done brilliantly to get through this after all the pressures of the last few weeks," he said. "If she made a promise to Marie Curie, the whole family knew that she would keep it. We are absolutely thrilled that she finished."
