Harrison Ford plane crash: stars send get well messages

Harrison Ford's Star Wars co-stars were among the first to send get well messages to the actor following his plane crash on Thursday. "Glad to hear Harrison is doing well. Get well soon. May all his future flights be green-screen," tweeted Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the franchise. Peter Mayhew – best known as Chewbacca – also sent a goodwill message, joking that Harrison's rapidly improving condition makes his stronger than his Star Wars character. "From Critical > Severe > Moderate > Fair, in the span of an hour. Is #HarrisonFord Han Solo or Wolverine?" he wrote.

Fellow sci-fi star, Star Trek's William Shatner, 83, also had a message for him. "Thoughts go out to Harrison Ford for a speedy recovery," he said, later adding, "Harrison had a door fall on him and he continued filming; He's tough!". Larry King tweeted that he was "closely monitoring" news of his friend, and wished Harrison and his family well, while comedian Dane Cook requested that, "Please everyone send out positive energy for Harrison Ford." Ellen DeGeneres said she was "sending love and positive thoughts" to the star, while Melissa Joan Hart and Frozen star Josh Gad both tweeted that they had him in their prayers.

Harrison's son Ben Ford posted a message from the hospital shortly after his dad arrived on Thursday. "At the hospital. Dad is ok. Battered, but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man." Ben, a chef, added, "Thank you all for your thoughts and good vibes for my dad." Action star Harrison has been praised for his real-life piloting skills after managing to safely steer his aircraft to a golf course when the engine failed moments after take-off. He was injured in the incident, but is expected to make a full recovery.

His spokesperson released a statement that read, "Harrison was flying a World War II vintage plane today which had engine trouble upon take off. He had no other choice but to make an emergency landing, which he did safely. "He was banged up and is in hospital receiving medical care. The injuries sustained are not life-threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery."
