From her goofy snaps with her boyfriend to starry support acts, Taylor Swift has given fans so many memorable moments just this year. So it came as no surprise when she broke an Instagram record on Thursday by reaching 50 million followers. The new figure makes her Insta queen, shaking off nearest rivals Kim Kardashian whose followers number 48.4 million and Beyoncé with 47.5 million.

"50 million followers!! Thanks so much guys. I'm pretty sure this is just because I have cute cats though," wrote 25-year-old Taylor on her site.

Her cats Meredith Grey and Detective Olivia Benson named after the heroines of Grey's Anatomy and Law & Order are indeed popular. However, their owner is quite fascinating on her own.

Hightlights from her Instagram page in the last few months alone, have included the first picture of her godson Leo Thames and the time she sent birthday wishes to Karlie Kloss.

Of course fans lap up any images of her love Calvin Harris. One of the most liked images was a snap of him giving her a piggyback which she captioned: "Friendly relations between Scotland and America".

The couple have not been shy when it comes to talking about the relationship. The Scottish DJ has been the most effusive, recently saying he is "insanely happy" and Taylor "ticks boxes that I didn't even know existed".

Despite living such a charmed life the songbird does occasionally get overwhelmed by being in the spotlight. When that happens the Bad Blood singer usually rings her mother Andrea to help put things into perspective.

"I'm in the news every single day for multiple different reasons. If you let your anxiety get the better of you, like everybody's waiting for you to really mess up, then you'll be done," she told NME magazine. "A lot of the time I call my mom and talk for a really long time, just to remind myself of all the things that are great and that matter."
