Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have split after just 15 months of marriage. Amber, 30, filed for divorce from the film star this week in Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences. She listed the date of their separation as Sunday.According to TMZ, Johnny, 52, has filed legal documents of his own asking the judge to reject Amber's claim for spousal support. The star is said to be worth around $400million.

The couple's shocking split comes shortly after the death of Johnny's mother. Betty Sue Palmer passed away on Friday 20 May aged 81 after a long illness – and three days later Amber filed her divorce petition.

He has been seen without his wedding ring while on the promotional circuit, and has reportedly hired celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has represented the likes of Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears and Ryan Reynolds in the past.

The couple tied the knot in February 2015

The last time that Johnny and Amber were seen together publicly was when they made an apology video for smuggling their dogs into Australia.The couple, who met on the set of the 2012 movie Rum Diaries, were married on Johnny's private island Little Hall's Pond Cay in the Bahamas in February last year, in front of just 24 guests. It is thought that they were legally married in LA a short time before so that his ailing mother could attend.Johnny was previously married to Lori Anne Allison for two years. He was later in a long-term partnership with Vanessa Paradis for 14 years before they split in 2012. They have two children together, Lily-Rose and Jack.
