Selena confirmed a second series of the hit show

Speculation has been rife about season two of the teen drama, which focuses on high school student Hannah Baker who commits suicide, leaving a set of tapes in which she explains her reasons behind ending her life. Showrunner Brian Yorkey has confirmed that Katherine Langford, who plays Hannah, will appear in the second series, telling Hollywood Reporter: "Hannah's story is still very much not finished. She's an integral part of whatever the next chapter of the story is, and she's very much still at the centre of it."

Fans had mixed reactions to the news, with one writing: "SEASON 2 OF @13ReasonsWhy IS COMING. I have never been ready to watch anything more in my whole life! I need all those answers," while another added: "I'm very curious how season 2 of 13 reasons why will still have Hannah Baker in it... did she have more tapes?!" However, some thought that it should have remained a standalone series. One fan tweeted: "THE SHOW WAS CALLED 13 REASONS WHY SHE ALREADY TOLD US THE REASONS WHAT IS THE POINT OF SEASON 2 NETFLIX SHOULD'VE RENEWED TGD INSTEAD." Another wrote: "I just hope season 2 doesn't ruin the original story, it was meant only for one season so the only thing I ask is not destroy that please."

Katherine and Dylan Minette, who plays Clay Jenson on the show, recently visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show to chat about the series, and addressed the controversy surrounding the show's hard-hitting themes. "The main goal I think, overall, is to start conversations we think are necessary to be had and to bring these issues to light and to show them in a real way," Dylan explained. "If people are talking about it then we've reached our goal because these conversations… people need to talk about this."
