Calvin Klein, Inc., has revealed its much-anticipated women's Fall 2013 global advertising campaign, featuring 44-year-old model-activist Christy Turlington Burns!
The campaign was photographed by Mario Sorrenti, in Vieques, Puerto Rico.
This marks Christy's first ad campaign with Sorrenti. And it won't disappoint: it is heavily inspired by Calvin Klein's signature provocative, sensual advertising and features various of the brand's iconic essentials.
The campaign includes print, digital and outdoor components — in good timing for September 2013 international magazines. Billboards will begin to appear as early as August 19.
Christy has a long history with the brand. She walked her first Calvin Klein runway for the Fall 1987 season. In 1988, she was photographed by Irving Penn for her first Calvin Klein Collection advertising campaign. That same year, she became the face of Calvin Klein’s Eternity fragrance. Throughout the years, she continued to work on various Calvin Klein ad campaigns with such famous photographers as Steven Meisel, Mario Testino, Peter Lindbergh and Jurgen Teller.
In addition to modelling, Christy is known for directing and producing the documentary No Woman, No Cry (2010), which brings awareness to global maternal health issues. She also founded the corresponding campaign, Every Mother Counts, to help end preventable deaths associated with pregnancy and childbirth around the world.
