Zooey Deschanel has collaborated with Tommy Hilfiger to design a 16-piece capsule collection of feminine, sixties-inspired dresses.

The New Girl star, who is well known for her quirky, vintage style, was clearly channelling her personal aesthetic when creating the fun, flirty pieces.

"Tommy and I share many of the same inspirations – old-school music, classic films and old Hollywood icons," the actress said of the legendary designer.

Tommy is also quick to praise the star. "She reminds me of Audrey Hepburn for her sense of humour, her sophistication," he said. "At the same time, she has a Jackie O type of chicness to her."

Talking about the collection, Tommy added, "There is a lot of red, white and blue, but done in a Zooey way with interesting detail and flirty fabrics. They are very Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy – really from the Sixties in London."

Fourteen of the dresses, priced between $98 and $199, will go on sale at Macy’s in April. The full collection will go on sale at Tommy.com on April 21.
