Victoria Beckham ditched her trademark stilettos for a rare appearance in flats while strolling around New York City on Tuesday afternoon.
The fashion queen, who won more critical praise for her fall 2014 collection which she showed on Sunday morning, was seen looking as sophisticated as ever – yet comfortable – in a pair of smart monochrome lace-up brogues.
The stylish flats were designed by Yves Saint Laurent, who is famed for pioneering the androgynous look with his 1966 Le Smoking tuxedo collection, and this design is another take on the trend.
Victoria’s chic day-time look consisted of tailored cigarette trousers, a loose-fitting black top and a smart knee-length black coat.
The new look for the designer-come-mum-of-four comes after she revealed that she soon plans to design footwear.
In an event attended by over 800 fashion students and fans, she told Parsons’ Dean of Fashion, Simon Collins: “You know, I do want to start a shoe collection.”
“If anybody here is a shoe designer, please do come and see me! I definitely think shoes is probably the next category that I’ll look at going into; it’s quite a competitive category but I would love to go into [it].”
She continued: “I actually work with Manolo Blahnik on the shoes for my show every season and working with him is remarkable.”
Victoria, whose family sat on the front row during the presentation of her latest collection, did admit that she doesn’t think it will be easy.
“I think it’s very complicated… I wouldn’t just want to do a signature shoe – I’d have to make sure I’m working with the right factories, do a flat…”
