Beyoncé to design a streetwear line for Topshop (so we can all dress like casual queens)

By Sarah Kelsey

Beyoncé is, perhaps, the hardest working woman in show business.

She dominates Instagram, is reportedly working on a new album, has her hands full with Blue Ivy and just wrapped her “On the Run” tour with husband Jay Z. Busy? Beyoncé doesn’t know the meaning of the word; for her, juggling projects is all in a day’s work.

So it wasn’t surprising to hear that the 33-year-old has taken on another massive project – this time as chief designer. Blue’s mom is set to launch an entire line of sophisticated streetwear with the fashion house Topshop.

According to the press release sent to Women’s Wear Daily, “The brand will encompass clothing, footwear and accessories across dance, fitness and sports categories ensuring a dynamic fusion of fashion with the highest levels of technical performance.” It’s all set to launch in Topshop stores and online in spring 2015.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Topshop has partnered with a high-profile name. The label has teamed up with Kate Moss as well as designer Christopher Kane in the past.

But this collaboration is different. Even Sir Philip Green, the owner of Arcadia (which owns Topshop), agrees. Philip told Vogue an entirely new team will be hired to support Beyoncé’s design ideas and that the company has been looking to partner with someone who can take fitness fashion to the next level.

Obviously, Beyoncé is a logical choice to do just that. She’s been spotted wearing all sorts of Topshop wares and she’s one of the many style-makers who are leading the charge to bring casual-yet-glam attire back en vogue.

Sweatpants may never be the same.
