The week's best celebrity style: Jennifer Lopez, Mindy Kaling, Kristen Stewart and more

By: Nicole Carrington

Hollywood’s most stylish movers and shakers made their way from appearance to appearance in a bevy of looks that kept us wanting more. A-list trends this week included gold glamour, minimalism and retro silhouettes (we’re looking at you Jennifer Lopez, Jamie Chung and Leslie Mann!).

Several stars embraced a gilded look – from Mindy Kaling, who opted for a Canadian favourite at the FOX Television Critics Association after party, to teen starlet Chloe Grace Moretz, who stepped out in support of Julianne Moore in New York City.

All eyes were on Ms. Kaling who, in a gold tuxedo jacket by Canadian design duo Smythe, debuted a fresh new look just in time for The Mindy Project’s mid-season premiere in Pasadena. Across the country in New York City, Chloe’s shimmering Valentino mini dress stole the show at the Museum of the Moving Image.

Actress Leslie Mann also hopped on the metallic train in a charming strapless design by Reem Acra with alternating semi-sheer and sequined paneling, and brilliantly paired her frock with tri-coloured Burak Uyan mules and a striped Jimmy Choo minaudiere.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, minimalism took an impressive turn with no-fuss ensembles from Gwyneth Paltrow, Emmy Rossum and Kristen Stewart. Out to promote her latest flick, Mortdecai, Gwyneth stopped by Watch What Happens Live in head-to-toe noir featuring a jumpsuit by SAFiYAA and strappy Nicholas Kirkwood heels.

At Carbon38’s 2nd anniversary celebration, Emmy Rossum perfected her “I woke up like this” look in a simple lace pencil skirt (note the subtle leather piping) by Carolina Herrera and a basic black turtleneck. And out in NYC, Kristen Stewart’s casual spin on menswear had us all reaching for the nearest pair of tuxedo trousers.
