Jessica Alba and Jennifer Meyer launch jewelry collection for charity

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Jessica Alba has teamed up with celebrity jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer to launch a capsule collection on Gilt – with net proceeds going towards a worthy cause. The collection consists of just two heart-shaped necklaces – one in 8k gold ($280) and another in 18K gold with rubies ($980).

"We realized that hearts were a perfect metaphor for this project,” said Jessica. “It's an easy, elegant design that women can keep close to their hearts."

The pendants will help raise funds for Bono’s (RED) foundation, which aims to eliminate HIV/AIDS in Africa. Specifically, the money will go towards helping pregnant African women who are HIV positive, providing lifesaving medication that prevents the virus from being transferred to their unborn children.

Jennifer, who is actor Tobey McGuire’s wife, said, " We're both moms so it really hits home. Imagine that feeling of transferring something to your child. It's the worst thing in the world, and there are ways to prevent it."

"It made so much sense for us to collaborate on what we love, use the power of our platforms, and amplify what we do to help eradicate one of the worst diseases," added Jessica, who has been friends with Jennifer for more than a decade. " Helping women and children has always been a priority to me."

It's been an eventful year so far for the busy mother of two, who - in addition to lending her star power to charitable causes - is running her natural, non-toxic cleaning and baby supplies brand, The Honest Company, while she shoots a new film called Mechanic: Resurrection in Thailand.

Still, the beautiful brunette managed to find time to attend the star-studded launch of the collection on Tuesday night (Feb. 3), which saw some of Hollywood's top A-listers step out to show their support.

Molly Sims' best beauty moments

Jessica, 33, wowed in a black Michael Kors skirt and crop-top paired with a deep plum lip, while Scandal star Kerry Washington opted for a playful, black-and-white polka-dotted dress and pregnant model Molly Sims wrapped her baby bump in a pale-blue lace number.
