Met Gala after-party outfits: Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna and more

The 2015 Met Gala red carpet was brimming with ornate, floral and byzantine-inspired gowns that befitted the evening stylish theme, China: Through the Looking Glass. But after the gala had come to an end, the stars showcased an “anything goes” aesthetic, with many celebrities shedding their glam red-carpet looks for decidedly slinkier attire to attend one of various after-parties.

A bevvy of A-listers let their hair down at late-night bashes scattered throughout New York City, including the Yahoo Style event held at the Standard Hotel and a Rihanna-hosted private fête at splashy New York nightspot Up & Down.

Selena Gomez attended the former event, swapping in her long white Versace gown for a short black cocktail dress that showed off her long, lean legs. Adriana Lima made an appearance at the latter soirée, changing out of her burgundy Marc Jacobs gown and into an all-black ensemble that included knee-high strappy gladiator sandals.

Then there was Jennifer Lawrence, who slipped out of her Chinese-inspired, black-and-floral Dior gown and into a slinky, silver number that hugged every curve. Lorde, too, chose a satin berry-hued dress as she joined her friend for the Alexander Wang 'do hosted by Lady Gaga at the Diamond Horseshoe.

It was Rihanna, however, who was determined to come away with the title of best dressed at both the Gala and its after parties. The star, who wowed on the red carpet in an opulent couture creation by Chinese designer Guo Pei, changed two more times throughout the evening, with each outfit revealing more skin than the last.
