The week's best celebrity style: Carey Mulligan, Zoe Saldana, Emily Blunt and more

By Nicole Carrington

Going formal had a whole new spin this week as stars turned heads in daring prints, bright colours and new silhouettes. From expectant momCarey Mulligan's figure-flattering, oxblood Balenciaga number to an emerald-green stunner on Zoe Saldana and Emily Blunt's royal-blue jumpsuit, we could almost taste the rainbow.

Rose Byrne stole our hearts in a deep-cut, crimson Delpozo gown at the 69th annual Tony Awards. With a full-length exposed zipper and romantic shoulder flourishes, the actress easily won the look of the night. (Did we mention the matching pumps and swoon-worthy lob?)

Another big win was actress Leven Rambin, who looked ever the lady in a baroque-print Marchesa frock, complemented perfectly by her sleek ‘do and cherry-red lip, at the annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball in Los Angeles. And following in Leven’s patterned footsteps was new-mom Zoe Saldana in a bold green Dolce & Gabbana look featuring a high neck and long sleeves at the Spike TV Awards — not the easiest ensemble to pull off but with a simple shoe, carefree blowout and bold pout, Zoe’s execution is brilliant.

Dope star Kiersey Clemons also wowed in a striking Asian-inspired wrap dress by Elisabetta Franchi at her film’s L.A. showing. Designer Elisabetta Franchi was also top choice for Emily Blunt who went for an ultra-chic navy jumpsuit for her appearance at the American Institute for Stuttering’s New York City gala. Seemingly the colour of the moment, Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard also opted for navy in the form of a floor length Pucci gown featuring keyhole accents and a deep berry lip at film’s world premiere.

This week’s hit list also includes standouts from Lady Gaga (yes, you read that right!) and mom-to-be Carey Mulligan. And of course, let us know who hit the mark and who struck out on Twitter and Facebook.
