The best royal style of the week: Princess Mary, Queen Letizia, Queen Mathilde and more

Bright colours and pretty patterns were the look du jour as European royals stepped out this week to enjoy the sunny weather. From Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and her delicate, cream dress to Queen Letizia of Spain's statement-making, patterned trousers, there was plenty of inspiration to behold this week.

Queen Letiziais renowned for her fashion-forward ensembles and this week was no exception - the elegant royal perfected daytime chic as she joined husband King Felipe VI at the Forum Impulsa at the Auditori of Girona.

The mother of two wowed in a tailored black blazer paired with loose printed black-and-white trousers. Her accessories complemented her look perfectly as she chose black strappy high heels paired with a chic clutch bag which matched her trousers.

Elsewhere in the world, Princess Mary turned heads as she joined Crown Prince Frederik at the Royal Danish Playhouse in Copenhagen to attend the Reumert Award. The Danish royal was the epitome of glamour in a floor-length cream dress, which she paired with a sheer shimmering long shawl.

The mother of four completed her look with a pair of gold statement earrings and wore her glossy brunette locks down in sleek tumbling waves.

Meanwhile, Queen Mathilde of the Belgians showed off her style credentials as she and King Philippe headed to the Bund in Shanghai as part of their visit to China. The stylish royal wowed in a red dress, which she paired with a matching hat, completing the look with nude stilettos and a matching box clutch bag.

Queen Mathilde was not the only royal to turn heads in a colourful ensemble this week – Queen Maxima of the Netherlands also won plaudits for her style when she stepped out for the Family Business Award in The Hague.

The mother of three looked as chic as ever in a striped pink, red and orange skirt paired with a sleeveless cream top featuring pink stripes. She finished the look with a pair of bright pink stilettos and a matching clutch bag.
