The Week’s Best Celebrity Style: Marion Cotillard, Gigi Hadid, Carey Mulligan and more

By Ava Baccari

As the temperature drops ever so slightly, stylish stars such as Marion Cotillard, Carey Mulligan and Alicia Vikander are taking to the red carpet in layered-up looks featuring cozier fabrics and loose-fitting silhouettes. Cue our running to the shops for chic chalet-inspired outfits that are seasonally appropriate and totally on trend.

Leading the parade of layers this week was French actress Marion, who brilliantly paired a black cocktail-length turtleneck dress and cape with red velvet boots for a New York photo-op to promote Macbeth, in which she stars alongside Michael Fassbender (who, coincidentally, also induces warm and fuzzy feelings.) Naturally, the 40-year-old Dior ambassador was wearing the French label head-to-toe in a bid to prove the queen of effortless elegance.

Suffragette star Carey stepped out in London this week in a floor-length jacquard gown that looked as polished and sophisticated as it did comfy and ultra wearable. The 30-year-old actress donned a Gucci Spring 2016 geometric column dress embroidered with bird and flower details at the 2015 British Independent Film Awards.

"It" model Gigi Hadid is enjoying a high-fashion moment now, both on and off the runway. Dashing through the streets of New York, the gorgeous Victoria's Secret model displayed her serious street-style game in a nude Self-Portrait military maxi-dress with a matching wool coat by Topshop Unique draped over her shoulders. It was the perfect bright ensemble for a warmer-than-usual winter in New York.

Around the globe in Berlin, Alicia Vikander proved that a cozy Rag & Bone sweater can be an elegant choice when paired with a fitted pencil skirt and black booties. Her co-star, Eddie Redmayne, was the picture of winter perfection in a plaid Valentino suit at the London première of The Danish Girl.

Lupita Nyong'o, Miranda Kerr and Jennifer Connelly also made our list for their winter-ready ensembles. And when the mercury inevitably drops below zero, you'll want to take your cues from these impeccable ladies, who will be as warm as they are well-heeled all season long.
