Week’s Best Celebrity Style: Kerry Washington, Ellie Kemper, Rosario Dawson and more

By Ava Baccari

April flowers may not be in bloom yet, but they made their way on to the red carpet this week as stars like Kerry Washington and Ellie Kemper were in full bloom. The spring 2016 runways, with their mesh of suits and silhouettes delicately trimmed in feminine details (and topped with a bow!), weren't far from mind as fashionable A-listers took a playful approach to their looks this week in bright and colourful prints.

With her ever-impeccable red-carpet instincts, Kerry, 39, donned a poppy-printed Dolce & Gabbana number paired with a gilded clutch at the Confirmation premiere in Los Angeles. The Scandal star managed to look poised and effortless with a powerhouse look inspired by real-life First Lady Michelle Obama.

As season two of the loveable and quirky Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt returns, its equally loveable and quirky leading lady Ellie Kemper channeled her character's whimsical personality in a dress by Canadian export Tanya Taylor. The 35-year-old paired the floral-printed number with tangerine pumps for the world premiere in New York.

The gorgeous actress revealed the daring look at the 2016 UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability Gala in Beverly Hills. Jane Fonda also made an appearance at the environmentally themed event in a sparkling embellished Saint Laurent suit.

More of our perennial red-carpet favourites – Kristen Dunst, Sarah Paulson, Elizabeth Olsen – opted for sleek and subtle prints for their red-carpet appearances this week. A perfect and playful way to welcome the spring season!
