Week's Best Celebrity Style: Dakota Johnson, Jenna Coleman, Rihanna and more

By Ava Baccari

There's nothing like the exhilaration of planning a back-to-school outfit – a sartorial feat that speaks to your personal style and sets the tone for the year. This year, young fashion fans can take ample inspiration from the '90s-worthy prep school looks that stars like Dakota Johnson, Rihanna and Emma Stone have been rocking lately. (For true school-girl nostalgia, take your cues from any ensemble in Clueless or Britney's "Baby One More Time" music video.)

Rihanna was an obvious candidate for queen bee, on the street or in the classroom, as she stepped out in New York wearing an oversized sweater from her Anti World Tour collection. She completed the grunge-inspired look with skinny black trousers and Puma by Rihanna trainers. Bonus: This could also double as a chic outfit for gym class.

British actress Jenna Coleman embodied prep-school chic in a smart and polished Isa Arfen blouse – complete with Peter Pan collar and ribbon bow – and cropped trousers. She anchored the ensemble with suede loafers for a look that would surely elevate the social standing of the teacher's pet!

5 FASHION LESSONS WE LEARNED FROM CLUELESS

Dakota Johnson called to mind her bookish Fifty Shades of Grey character as she strolled the streets with a full backpack, simple blue button-up shirt and black trousers. The actress completed her preppy getup with Gucci loafers and Ray-Ban sunnies. And leave it to Victoria Beckham to stand out from the rest of the class in an all-black fashion girl ensemble. The designer paired a black silk blouse with matching slouchy trousers for an A-plus look.

Also earning top (fashion) marks this week was Emma Stone (in Chanel), Alessia Cara (in Topshop) and Taylor Swift (in Bishop + Young). Jaden Smith gave an ultimate style lesson in a layered Undercover jacket. Take note, this is one class you don't want to skip!
