Kanye West reschedules his NYFW show as not to clash with Marchesa

By fashion.hellomagazine.com

Kanye West was forced to reschedule his upcoming Yeezy presentation at New York Fashion Week after receiving backlash when it emerged that it clashed with the Marchesa show. The CFDA confirmed that the Fade rapper had been in touch to change the time of his fashion show following their statement accusing him of "disruptive" behaviour.

The issues began when Kanye announced that his fashion show would take place at 5 pm on Feb. 15 as part of the official NYFW schedule. However, the father-of-two hadn't consulted with CFDA, who spend months painstakingly planning the event, and his chosen time clashed with Marchesa's show.

"Once again, CFDA was not approached or consulted about the possibility of Kanye West showing on the official New York fashion week schedule," Steven Kolb, the CFDA's president said in a statement to WWD on Thursday. "As the scheduler of the week, the CFDA works with more than 300 brands to identify appropriate times for them to show their collections and avoid scheduling conflicts. Not going though the proper channels is disruptive to the whole week and unfair to designers who have secured spots through the formal procedure."

However it appears that Kanye has since apologized for the decision, and moved his show forward two hours to 3pm. "Kanye called me personally to let me know that he had no intention of showing on top of another designer, and was unaware that there was a conflict," Steven said in a statement. "He explained that once he realized Marchesa was in the time slot, he immediately looked at alternative options. The CFDA appreciates Kanye's outreach and effort, and we look forward to working with him far in advance to integrate Yeezy into the schedule in seasons to come."

Kanye will no doubt hope to impress with his new collection after experiencing difficulties during his Yeezy Season 4 show in September. The show started two-hours late and was hit by a number of problems, including models struggling in the 30⁰C heat, and others having difficulty walking in the footwear – with one model almost falling over when the heel on her boot snapped.
