The model has admitted that she was initially reluctant to appear in the photoshoot when she was first approached by the iconic magazine, but couldn't miss the opportunity to model alongside her daughters. "My first thought was, 'At my age? No way!' When I turned 30, I was like, 'This is the last time I'm posing in a bathing suit!'" Christie told People magazine. "When this issue comes out, I'll be 63. I thought, 'Those days are over.' But to get to do it with my girls, I thought, 'One last go!'"

And it appears Christie is happy with the final images, as she excitedly shared a photo from the shoot with her fans on Instagram. The stunning photo shows Christie appearing to walk on water as she stands between her two daughters, who are both smiling while wearing black bikinis.

CELEBRITY MOTHER DAUGHTER LOOK-ALIKES

"Yes! I am excited to announce that I am back in @si_swimsuit… I figured with my gorgeous daughters @alexarayjoel and @sailorbrinkleycook by my side whose going to be looking at me! Oh and my kids think I walk on water, so let's not mention the apple box concealed just under the surface," Christie captioned the photo.

The model was joined by her daughters Alexa Ray Joel and Sailor Brinkley Cook.

The mother-of-three continued to thank the publication for inviting her to star in the shoot, and "sending the powerful message that good things come in packages of every size and we do not come with an expiration date!"

Christie has now modelled for Sports Illustrated's swimwear edition nine times throughout her career, and landed the cover on three consecutive years between 1979 and 1981.
