Kate Urbanksa, 29, a beautician from the U.K., has become a master at recreating the Duchess of Cambridge's, née Kate Middleton, iconic style right down to the last button and shoe detail. She whips up looks by searching eBay for discounted deals on the mother of two's designer dresses and, smartly, hiring a tailor to recreate the key looks that would be a little too punishing on the wallet. She’s the ultimate copy-Kate and proof that with a little time and ingenuity, we can all be a step closer to dressing like a royal.
She shares her carefully crafted outfit dupes on her Instagram and blog GreatRepliKate, with her most impressive score to date being the blue and white embroidered Naeem Khan dress Kate wore during her tour of India in 2016. The so-called Taj Mahal dress, from Khan’s 2015 resort collection, retails for close to $4,000 and thanks to a tailor’s handywork, Kate Urbanksa reportedly got hers for a mere $24.
She told the Daily Mail her reasons for choosing the Duchess of Cambridge, over other fashion plates, was a no-brainer: ‘I love Kate and her style – her look is modest, timeless and so different compared to other celebrities nowadays.”
The ultimate in ladylike, high-low dressing, what Kate wears is a hot topic for royal watchers and fashion fans alike to ponder and dissect but the 29-year-old doesn’t limit herself to the royal's red carpet moments, choosing to recreate even the casual looks that the Duchess favours.
The beautician has even taken her Kate love to the realm of skincare. She admitted that she has also tried some of the key items you might find on her vanity, like this Karin Herzog moisturizer and another Royal fave, Bobbi Brown’s Sandwashed Pink lipstick, to polish off the Duchess of Cambridge look.
