Julia Roberts gets hit in the face with a ball on ‘The Tonight Show’

Julia Roberts, 46, looked every bit the Pretty Woman while getting hit in the face with a ball by Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

For context, it was all in good fun and part of a new segment Jimmy premiered last night (July 31) called “Face Balls.”

The premise? Julia and Jimmy both held inflatable beach balls and hurled them at each other’s faces. The simple game produced huge laughs as the face smashing was captured on high definition, slow motion Phantom cameras.

The Erin Brockovich star wore black short shorts to showcase her long and lean legs and topped the all-black ensemble with a flouncy top and California-worthy blonde waves.

And despite being hit with beach toys with considerable force, Julia remained in good spirits, cackling as she watched her face being flattened in the slow-motion replay. "This is like the comedy version of 50Shades of Grey," the Oscar winner said.

The actress was on Jimmy's show to promote Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart, in which she plays Dr. Emma Brookner. The HBO film received a whopping 16 nominations at the Emmy Awards, airing on August 25.
