Chris Pratt delights patients at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles with a surprise appearance

Chris Pratt doesn’t just play a hero on the big screen – he took his goodwill to the hospital to surprise young fans!

With Guardians of the Galaxy's opening weekend box office numbers breaking records, the 35-year-old comic actor dressed up as his character, Star Lord, and popped by Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on Wednesday (Aug. 20).

While there, Chris presented a screening of the action-packed film, based on a Marvel comic of the same name. He also made rounds, stopping at the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, the Children’s Centre for Cancer and Blood Diseases, and the Pediatric ICU, where patients were too sick to attend the screening.

The Parks and Recreation star also shared some quality time with a young boy named Dylan Prunty, who was reportedly such a fan of The Lego Moviethat he immediately recognized Chris’ voice.

The duo spent 10 minutes just reciting lines, which Dylan had committed to memory.

Chris, who is married to funny-lady Anna Faris, handed out movie swag and mugged for photographs with eager fans. He also brought in costumes that the children could wear for photo opportunities.

The hospital said in a tweet, “Star Lord (@prattprattpratt) cheered up our patients by sharing #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy! Thanks for making them smile!”
