Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch join the cast of ‘True Detective’

Rachel McAdams has landed the lead female role in the new season of True Detective, joining previously announced leads Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn.

Fellow Canadian actor Taylor Kitsch and British star Kelly Reilly will also join the cast of the HBO drama.

In season two, 36-year-old Rachel plays Ventura County Sheriff Ani Bezzerides, "whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves,” according to a release by HBO. Several other actresses, including Jessica Biel and Malin Akerman, were reportedly considered for the part before the Canadian beauty was finally chosen.
