Bushy eyebrows and thick-rimmed glasses aside, Dan and Eugene Levy have one important thing in common – a wicked sense of humour. Fans were thrilled to learn that the Canadian father-son duo had teamed up in the name of comedy last year, co-creating one of the country’s most highly anticipated new TV comedies, Schitt’s Creek, which premieres onJan. 13 on CBC.
Also starring SCTV alum Catherine O’Hara as Eugene's soap opera-star wife, the show follows a billionaire family’s fall from financial grace after they’re forced to unglamorously relocate to the aptly named rural town of – you guessed it – Schitt’s Creek.

“I had this idea for a show about a family that plays on this cultural awareness we have of what it’s like to live with a lot of money,” 31-year-old Dan tells Hello! during an exclusive shoot with his dad in Toronto. “You know, you have the Kardashians on TV. I thought, if you flip that on its head, what would that be?”
And while the former MTV After Show host (and one of Hello! Canada’s Best Dressed Canadians!) clashes with his father in the series, in real life the pair couldn't be closer.
“Even though it started out as a nice father-son adventure, it has turned into a project where I am working with a very skilled, talented partner,” Eugene, 68, said proudly.
Schitt's Creek airs on Jan. 13 on CBC at 9 pm ET.
