After months of excitement and a slew of buzzy sneak peeks, the highly anticipated new Canadian reality show, Hockey Wives, premiered Wednesday, March 18 on W network.
Featuring the glamorous lives of the NHL’s wives and girlfriends, the eight-part docu-series promises to give fans a never-before-seen look into the daily lives of the women behind several hockey players at various stages of their careers – from well-established stars with multimillion-dollar contracts to up-and-comers struggling to make it in the big leagues.
Ahead of the series premiere, Hello! Canada sat down with six of the 10 women – Maripier Morin (girlfriend to Montreal Canadiens winger Brandon Prust), Kodette LaBarbera (wife of Anaheim Ducks goalie Jason LaBarbera), Brijet Whitney (wife of recently retired all-star left wing Ray Whitney), Emilie Blum (wife of Minnesota Wild defenceman Jonathon Blum), Martine Forget (fiancée to Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Joanthan Bernier) and Tiffany Parros (wife of recently retired right wing George Parros).
We asked them about their thoughts on doing a reality TV show, what it means to be “married to the game” and common misconceptions about being a hockey wife.

While some of the wives, like Emilie, grew up hockey (“[My dad] used to take me to Blackhawks games in Chicago all the time as a kid,” she says) others only got to know the game after meeting their hubbies. “I enjoy it now… I’m into it,” says new mom and model Martine, who also admits, “but I don’t know all the rules.”
Noureen DeWulf (wife of Vancouver Canucks goalie Ryan Miller), Jenny Scrivens (wife of Edmonton Oilers goalie Ben Scrivens) and Wendy Tippett (wife of Arizona Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett) round out the cast.
