Emmys 2015: All the winners and best moments

The stars of Hollywood escaped Los Angeles' heatwave by descending on the Microsoft Theatre to toast the best in television at the 67th Annual Emmy Awards. Saturday Night Live alum and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg kicked off the festivities with a star-filled music video showing the strenuous binge-watching training session the actor underwent to prepare him for his hosting duties. After a hilarious monologue that poked fun at Jon Hamm, Louis C.K., Donald Trump and more, Amy Poehler and Amy Schumer took to the stage to get the award party started.

“I feel like I won the lottery because you all are amazing!” said Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy winner Allison Janney, who took home an impressive 7th career Emmy for her work on Mom. The veteran actress was up against some stiff competition, including Modern Family’s Julie Bowen and The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik.

In one of the most moving moments of the night, Jeffrey Tambor delivered an inspiring speech while accepting the award for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy. The star, who plays a transgendered woman in Transparent, told the audience, “I’d like to dedicate my performance and this award to the transgendered community. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for your courage. Thank you for your inspiration and thank you for letting us be part of the change.”

With moments of laughter came moments of tears as Orange is the New Black's Uzo Aduba claimed her second straight win. "I love you most for letting me be me," she said in tribute to her family and friends. A teary-eyed Amy Schumer accepted the award for Best Variety Sketch Series and in her speech the 34-year-old stayed true to her off-the-cuff humour, “I knew I should have written something down. Thanks everybody who has helped me. The girl that gave me this smokey eye … I really love it .”

After Jon Hamm won Outstanding Actor in a Drama, his first after 16 nominations, Outstanding Actress in a Drama winner Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder) had the audience on their feet after sharing powerful words about equality. "The only thing that separates women of colour from anything, is opportunity," she said, adding, "Here's to all the awesome writers and people who have redefined what it means to be beautiful, to be sexy, to be a leading woman, to be black."

The night came to a beautiful conclusion with the appearance of Tracy Morgan, who presented Outstanding Drama Series to Game of Thrones. In June 2014, the funny man suffered serious injuries in a car accident that left him in a coma and unable to walk.
