Priyanka Chopra signs on to star in 'Baywatch' movie opposite Dwayne Johnson

Priyanka Chopra is heading to the beach! The Quantico star has signed on to star in the adaptation of the hit television series Baywatch. Her new co-star Dwayne Johnson made the announcement via Instagram, writing, "She's one of the biggest stars in the world. Insanely talented, relentlessly smokin' and extremely dangerous - perfect for #BAYWATCH."

The actress joins previously announced cast members Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario (American Horror Story) in the beach-themed movie, which is expected to hit theatres in spring 2017. Priyanka, who shot to international fame as a Bollywood actress before touching down in Hollywood, will play a villain in the flick.

The action comedy sees former wrestler Dwayne as a devoted lifeguard forced to team up with a young "hothead" colleague, played by Zac, to save his beach from being destroyed by an oil tycoon. Speaking with late night talk show host Seth Myers, the Neighbours star admitted he was excited about the role but felt intimidated by his co-star. "We want to make it badass. That's what Dwayne wants — he's so cool, he's like the coolest dude in the world. I'm gonna have to keep up with that guy!"
