Brad Pitt is in negotiations to star in his wife Angelina Jolie's latest directorial effort Africa, according to reports. This will be the Hollywood power couple's third collaboration together – they recently teamed up on the actress' third feature as a director, By the Sea, and they famously met and fell in love on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith back in 2005. Angelina's next project may see Brad play famed archaeologist Richard Leakey who became a staunch defender of elephants against poachers in Kenya in the late '80s.

The Oscar-winning-actress-turned-director spoke about the film last September: "I've felt a deep connection to Africa and its culture for much of my life." She continued about the script, written by Oscar winner Eric Roth, "[I] was taken with Eric's beautiful script about a man drawn into the violent conflict with elephant poachers who emerged with a deeper understanding of man’s footprint and a profound sense of responsibility for the world around him."

The film will also see Angelina team up with her Unbroken cinematographer Roger Deakins. As well as directing, the mother-of-six will also be the movie's producer. Production could begin as soon as this summer, according to TheWrap. Brad recently starred in and executive produced World War II movie Fury. He also served as an executive producer on Selma and the upcoming James Franco-Jonah Hill drama True Story, which debuted at Sundance this week.

Angelina, meanwhile, was busy last year working on Unbroken, another biopic that told the story of the late Olympic runner Louis Zamperini, who was taken prisoner by Japanese forces during WWII. In By The Sea, Brad and Angelina starred side-by-side as a couple appearing to be drifting ways, but relaxing in a quiet, seaside town draws them close to some of its more lively inhabitants. In their first project together, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, they played a married couple who were surprised to find out that they are both assassins and hired by competing agencies to kill one another.
