There's an 18-year age gap between Lily-Rose Depp and Natalie Portman but that's not going to stop them from playing spiritual sisters in a new thriller. Planetarium will be set in the 1930s, and will see Natalie and Lily team up with French director Rebecca Zlotowski.

Little is known about the film except Lily-Rose and Natalie will play "sisters who are believed to possess the supernatural ability to connect with ghosts." Director Rebecca added to Variety: "They cross paths with a visionary French producer while performing in Paris."

The film will also have a political slant, as with a modern connection to the current crisis and rise of extremism in Europe. Variety reports that the "character of the producer is freely inspired by Jewish producer Bernard Natan, one of the biggest French film industry figures of the ’20s and ’30s, who eventually died in Auschwitz."

The thriller will be a French film, which is handy for both Lily-Rose and Natalie who have lived in France. Lily-Rose was born there - her mother Vanessa Paradis is a French actress - while Natalie now lives in Paris after marrying French ballet dancer Benjamin Millepied, whom she met on the set of her Oscar-winning film Black Swan.

It will be Lily-Rose's second major role, after completing work on Yoga Hosers in 2014 - a family affair as it also stars her father Johnny Depp.

The Depps were both cast in Kevin Smith's new comic book movie, with budding actress Lily-Rose, 15, the co-lead in the upcoming film, along with Kevin's own daughter, Harley Quinn Smith.

Yoga Hosers is the follow-up to Kevin’s last film Tusk, which Lily-Rose also had a small role in, and is the second instalment in his True North trilogy of films, which are centred around Canadian myths and legends.
