Jamie Foxx has spoken of his excitement after his daughter Corinne Foxx was named Miss Golden Globe 2016. The title, which is traditionally given to the child of one of the film industry's most respected figures, means Corinne will assist in handing out awards during the Golden Globes ceremony.

"I've known for about three weeks. Maybe like a month and I was so excited," Jamie told People after the news was announced. "I had all of this energy and I'm not lying, for an hour straight, just jumped around my house and was bouncing off the walls, and was Googling all of this stuff about Miss Golden Globes so I was really excited."

Meanwhile 21-year-old Corinne said her father's reaction to the news was "emotional".

"My dad, he's a little bit emotional. He won't admit it, but he had tears in his eyes and he was so happy for me to kind of have my own thing now," Corinne explained.

The budding model and actress also said she was "honoured" at being named Miss Golden Globe during a party hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. "Throughout the years I've grown up watching my dad establish himself as a well-respected actor," Corinne said. "I'm honoured that HFPA has given me the opportunity to share the same stage where he's been recognised for some of his greatest accomplishments."

The Golden Globes will kick start awards season on Sunday 10 January, with Ricky Gervais confirmed to host the ceremony for the fourth time despite previously vowing never to return to the event. The comedian, who hosted the awards for three consecutive years from 2010-2012 has said he "can't wait" to return to the Golden Globes, which will see Denzel Washington pick up the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award.
