In Photos: Oxford Dictionary names 'selfie' The word of the 2013

It's a shameless vehicle for self-promotion; a way to make your followers laugh; a way to give props to products and people you love – it's the "selfie," and this social media phenomenon has been named Oxford Dictonary's word of 2013. 


The word itself is defined as "a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website.


We've all turned the camera on ourselves at one point or another, some with better results than others, but one thing is for sure: celebrities know how to do a "selfie" justice!
