Olympian Emily Batty's 5 favourite core workout exercises

Olympian Emily Batty is ready for battle. The 28-year-old athlete is in the final stages of training for the Rio Olympics and on Aug. 20 she will hit the cross country mountain bike course in search of a gold medal. The accomplished cycling star invited Hello! along to a training session at the Academy of Lions gym in Toronto, where she demonstrated five of her favourite core workout exercises.

And while she makes moves like the kettle bell swing and box jump look simple, Emily insists that all of the exercises are easy to work into your fitness regimen. She adds that her go-tos like the inch worm and foam roller are perfect ways to stay active while travelling since they can be performed almost anywhere.

One of Emily's keys to success is her dedication to building a strong body and even stronger mind. She tells us that while she dreams of Olympic gold, she makes sure to focus on the process and take each step, or rather pedal, as they come. The Brooklin, Ont-native's road to Rio started when she was just 11 years old after watching her brothers excel in the sport. "My brothers actually introduced the sport to my family and right from the get-go my mom and dad were on board and super supportive," she explains.
