Spring hair trend: Blorange

By Julia Seidl

The right shade on the right mane can instantly start a trend. Case in point: Georgia May Jagger’s blorange strands. The pretty peachy tone was the creation of London-based stylist and co-founder of Bleach London Alex Brownsell, and when Georgia debuted her new do on Instagram, a trend was born. “It’s a blood-orange hue, inspired by my favourite San Pellegrino flavour,” says Alex, who also counts Alice Dellal and Florence Welch as clients. “It’s warm in tone but has a pinkish quality.”

The washed-out pastel hue is gaining momentum, thanks to other models like Hailey Baldwin and actresses like Emma Roberts treating their tresses to the new shade. And it’s not just for blonds looking for a rainbow refresh. “For darker bases, it’s best to lighten your hair with bleach first,” says Alex. Blorange, like any pastel colour, is prone to fading and often only lasts between two to 10 washes.

If you’re eager to maximize its lifespan, Alex recommends adding a touch of leftover colour (from your stylist or at-home kit) to your conditioner at every other shampoo. “When you run out, you’ll get a few interesting shades as the colour dies down.” A weekly hair mask also ensures your strands stay healthy and vibrant.
