Miley Cyrus says Justin Bieber comments were 'twisted'

Miley Cyrus is firing back at critics who claim she dissed Justin Bieber in a new interview with Rolling Stone.

The 20-year-old was quoted saying she acts like a mentor towards the Canadian pop sensation, warning Justin to keep his shirt on so he won't "become a joke" like Vanilla Ice.

She said: “I do mentor him in a way. Because I've been doing [this] for a long time, and I already transitioned, and I don't think he's quite done it yet. He's trying really hard.”

Miley is just one year older than Justin, 19, but she offered her own theory explaining why she thought Justin was acting immaturely.

"I think boys are, like, seven years behind. So in his head, he's really, like, 12,” she said.

Justin’s notoriously loyal fans did not take kindly to the comments and lashed out at the “Wrecking Ball” singer via social media. In response, Miley recanted. Her words were taken the wrong way, she said.

"Always have ALWAYS will root for @justinbieber," she said via Twitter, adding the hashtag, "#onlylamestwistwords."

Justin, meanwhile, didn't miss a beat. He quickly stamped out any rumours of a brewing feud, saying, "@MileyCyrus all good. I know what it is. We keep it interesting."

And there you have it: No harm, no foul between these two teen idols.
