Juno nominee Deadmau5 feuds with teen idol Justin Bieber

There’s no love lost between Deadmau5 and Justin Bieber.

During a Feb. 4 press conference in which the Juno Award nominees were being announced, the Canadian producer openly mocked the 19-year-old pop sensation and his recent skirmishes with the law.

"Bieber! Yes, yes, yes, let's talk about Bieber. Nobody talks about Bieber," responded Deadmau5 (whose real name is Joel Zimmerman) sarcastically when asked about the troubled singer. "We should really give this kid some credit."

Justin was arrested in Miami last month under suspicion of DUI and drag racing. (The 33-year-old electronic deejay had similarly taken to Twitter to comment on the situation, calling the singer “an idiot.”) The incidents prompted a petition to deport the teenager from the U.S., an appeal that has garnered more than 100,000 signatures so far.

"If they do extradite him to Canada, I think we should have a drag race," continued Deadmau5. "Me in my souped up car, him in whatever the (hell) he wants.... (A) rental. With insurance."

It’s not the first time the pair have publicly clashed, either. The Canadian music stars quarrelled at Toronto’s Cabana Pool Bar last July, and again at a Korean nightclub in October, where Justin reportedly attacked a deejay for refusing to play a song he requested. Deadmau5 tweeted afterwards of the incident: “Dear @justinbieber, would you please grow [up] already? Put a shirt on, and stay away from nightclubs.”

Justin is up for the Fan Choice award, an honour he’s received for the past three years in a row.

Deadmau5, meanwhile, is nominated for Dance Recording of the Year for “>album title goes here.<”
