Avril Lavigne cancels a performance after being admitted to the hospital

Avril Lavigne was admitted to an Oklahoma City hospital after undisclosed health problems prevented the singer from performing at her June 6 concert with the Backstreet Boys at the Chesapeake Energy Centre.

To quell any fan uproar and speculation, Avril took to her Facebook to keep everyone updated, writing, “Hi. I ended up going to the hospital. I’m sorry I couldn’t play last night. I’m resting and will do my best to get up for the show! Thank u. [sic]”

Thankfully, the “Hello Kitty” performer had a swift recovery, as she rejoined the Backstreet Boys on stage in Kansas City at the Starlight Theatre on June 7.

“Feeling better. Here we go, Kansas City,” Avril tweeted to her fans that night.

The joint Backstreet Boys-Avril tour will continue on June 9, with a concert in Omaha, and it will wind down on June 22 in Wantagh, New York.

It has been an exciting tour so far for the pop rocker. Shania Twain recently surprised the singer backstage at her show in Las Vegas on May 31, with Avril returning the favour the following night at by attending Shania's Still the One residency.
