There were said to be around 40 guests in attendance at the wedding, including Beyoncé’s sister Solange Knowles. The ceremony was followed by a party at the couple’s Tribeca apartment, attended by the bride’s Destiny’s Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin.

Beyoncé and Jay Z married in 2008 after six years of dating, but refused to discuss the big event; when Jay Z was congratulated after the wedding had taken place, he replied, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”

It was only six months ago that Beyoncé first spoke about the wedding.

“What Jay and I have is real,” she told Essence magazine. “It’s not about interviews or getting the right photo op. It’s real.”

“We’ve been together a long time. We always knew it would happen.”

She went on to say that the wedding was very small and intimate because she’s not a “traditional” woman and having it be “her day” wasn’t something she needed.

“It’s been my day so many days already,” she told the magazine.
