The last time Hilary Duff released an album was in 2007, but she’s coming back!
The “Come Clean” singer recently threw a bash at New York City club Marquee to launch a remix of her upcoming album’s lead single, “Chasing the Sun.”
Hilary attended the launch party wearing a Kate Moss-inspired ensemble, pairing thigh-high boots with short shorts and a distressed T-shirt tied in a Guess knot.
The 600-person venue was packed, and guests includedRu Paul’s Drag Race star Milk, gossip columnist Perez Hilton and a staggering amount of diehard Hilary fans. One attendee even brought a cherished T-shirt purchased during Hilary’s 2006 world tour to get the 26-year-old mother of one's attention.
The un-remixed single is set to drop on July 29 and was co-written by fellow pop star Colbie Caillat, but Hilary has already teased a snippet of the track on Instagram.
The Lizzie McGuire star launched her singing career in 2002 with her debut album, Santa Claus Lane, which became gold-certified after shipping 500,000 copies to retailers. Her follow-up album, Metamorphosis, sold 2.6 million copies in the United States and Nielsen SoundScan reported it was the 8th best-selling album in 2003.
The Hilary train chugged along with a third, self-titled album in 2004 that featured the smash hit “Fly.” Compared to her sophomore effort, Hilary Duff sold 1.5 million copies in the United States and ranked 65th on the Billboard 100 chart.
Hilary’s last non-compilation album, Dignity, was released in 2007 and featured the singles “Stranger” and “Play with Fire.” The album produced the singer’s top-ranking single, “With Love,” which reached 24th on the US charts.
Hilary became mother to Luca Cruz with NHL player Mike Comrie in 2012after marrying in 2010. In Jan. 2014, the pop star and her hockey husband announced an amicable split.
