Canadian singer/songwriter Lights has opened up about motherhood for the first time, telling ET Canada that the experience of becoming a parent has changed her for the better.
“Going into motherhood, I didn’t know what to expect and I kept picturing the cliché mom, picking up after her kids, and I envisioned my life having to change a lot,” she says.
Thankfully, most of the brunette beauty's fears were unfounded. “I feel sexier and more powerful than ever,” says the electro-pop star, who was born Valerie Anne Poxleitner. “And it’s an empowering thing!”
Lights, 27, and her 33-year-old musician husband, Beau Bokan, welcomed their daughter, Rocket Wild Bokan, in February. The pair were wed in May 2012 in an intimate backyard ceremony surrounded by friends and family.
It’s been a big year for the Juno-Award winner, who released her latest album, Little Machines, in September. The songstress is slated to kick off a worldwide tour in December, performing in Niagara Falls for New Year’s Eve alongside Keith Urban, Nick Jonas and Shawn Mendes.
