Avril Lavigne thanks fans for their well wishes after suffering 'health issues'

Avril Lavigne has thanked fans for their support and well wishes following news that the Canadian singer is suffering from undisclosed "health issues."

Last week, the singer's rep confirmed to Billboard that while Avril is battling a health problem, it is not a result of pregnancy. When asked to elaborate on the nature of Avril's illness, the rep had no comment.

For several months now, fans haven’t seen or heard much of the blond songstress, who was last seen celebrating her 30th birthday in Las Vegas in September. Last week, she finally revealed the reason why she’s been keeping a low profile.

The singer opened up about her recent absence on social media, reportedly telling fans on Twitter that she has been battling “health issues.”

In a direct message to @AvrilMusicChart on Dec. 7, Avril wrote: "I feel bad because I haven't been able to say anything to the fans to let them no [sic] why I've been absent."

"I'm not feeling well. I'm having some health issues. So please keep me in your prayers.”

The user then tweeted #GetWellSoonAvril and #PrayforAvril to the singer, who publicly replied, “thank you" -- which seemed to confirm the authenticity of the claims.

Avril, who is married to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, had not yet disclosed any details about her illness.

The pop star's health battle may also explain why the singer hasn't been seen out with her husband in months.

Sources had been claiming that the Canadian couple were set to divorce after just one year of matrimony, though Chad seemed to deny the reports via a cryptic tweet in September, which made reference to“rumours and lies.”

So far, there’s been an outpouring of supporting from Avril's legions of followers online, with fans tweeting their thoughts and well wishes.
