After a long absence from the spotlight due to a mysterious illness, could Avril Lavigne soon be returning to the work? The Canadian singer has been teasing a new single called “Fly” on Twitter this week, revealing that the song’s uplifting lyrics are helping her cope with her issues.
“Right now I’m using my own (new) song lyrics to help me get through this......” she wrote, adding, “Just reach up, don’t give up until you’ve touched the sky. Just reach up, don’t give up until you’ve realized THAT WE WERE ALL MEANT TO FLY.”

Though there’s been no word on an official release date yet, Avril wrote that she was “excited to share it soon.”
The 30-year-old Napanee, Ont.-native also wrote that proceeds from the single will benefit the Special Olympics World Games, which will be held in Los Angeles this summer.
Fans are understandably excited over the news that the pop star is feeling well enough to make new music after revealing that she was suffering from an undisclosed illness late last year. “I’m not feeling well. I’m having some health issues. So please keep me in your prayers," she wrote in a private message to a fan on Twitter.
The singer’s rep later confirmed to Billboard that the singer’s secret health battle was not a result of pregnancy. When asked to elaborate on the nature of Avril’s sickness, the rep had no comment.
Right before Christmas, Avril also took to Twitter to dispel rumours that she was in rehab.
The blond beauty, who is married to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, has not yet disclosed any further details about her illness, but Avril’s health battle may also explain why the singer hasn’t been seen out with her husband in recent months.
Sources had been claiming that the Canadian couple were set to divorce after just one year of matrimony, though Chad seemed to deny the reports via a cryptic tweet in September, which made reference to "rumours and lies.”
So far, there’s been an outpouring of supporting from Avril’s legions of followers online, with fans tweeting their thoughts and well wishes.
