Avril Lavigne is back on Instagram with bikini photos

Avril Lavigne has a new zest for life after overcoming her debilitating battle with Lyme disease. The Canadian singer has been absent from Instagram during these past few months due to her illness, but she returned to the social platform with gusto this week, posting several photos from what appeared to be a sunny vacation.

Looking happy and healthy, the 30-year-old songstress shared three bikini-clad snaps from her trip, including one with her brother, Matt Lavigne, and another where she can be seen frolicking in the ocean with a close friend.

Sippin On Sunshine!” Avril joyfully wrote in the caption.

She also promised to update more frequently. “Avril's gonna start using her Instagram more!” she tweeted, urging fans to follow her.

The Napanee, Ont. native’s husband, Chad Kroeger, did not make an appearance in any of the photos, as he’s currently on tour with Nickelback in Australia.

Nonetheless, the trip comes as wonderful news for fans, who have been praying for Avril’s swift recovery.

Though the "Fly" singer has not confirmed her whereabouts in weeks, it’s thought that the jet-setting star may have returned to Toronto earlier this month to work on new music before heading out on a well-deserved holiday.

The pop-punk princess was forced to step out of the limelight after contracting a severe case of Lyme disease from a tick bite late last year, and after months of speculation and rumours over her health, she finally disclosed her illness in early April.

I believe that I will come out of this healthier and stronger than I was before,” she said. “I’ve gained a lot of perspective on my life. I’ve never had so much downtime, so it’s been good in that sense and I’m really just choosing to look at the positives.”
