It seems Justin Bieber and Drake topped more than just the music charts in 2015. According to Instagram, the duo had the most successful feeds in Canada, reaching millions of fans with behind-the-scenes snaps, sneak peaks at new music releases and snippets of their lavish lifestyles and A-list friends.
The "Sorry" singer reportedly gained some 27.9 million followers over the course of the year. He also had one of the most liked posts, an image that showed Justin playing in a pool with five-year-old Mason Disick, son of Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick.
Not one to shy away from competition or the spotlight was Toronto’s own Aubrey Graham, the gent behind the uber-successful, extensively-memed "Hotline Bling." His handle @ champagnepapi attracted 10 million new fans, while an image of him laughing courtside at a basketball game (presumably the Toronto Raptors) attracted more than 861,000 likes.
Other famous Canadian faces who made Instagram's "it" list were fellow Torontonian Shawn Mendes and YouTube sensation Lilly Singh. The former gained more than four million followers, while Superwoman caught the attention of 1.6 million new fans. Shawn also boasted one of the most beloved pics on the site, a shot with Taylor Swift.
In 2015, a number of A-list Canucks also joined the social sharing site, including Céline Dion and Victor Garber. From a global perspective, the most noticed celebrities on Instagram were Taylor, Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande and Beyoncé.
