The Weeknd among nominees for 2016 Grammy Awards

The Weeknd is singing a high note after the Canadian artist snagged seven Grammy nominations, making him one of the most-recognized talents on the roster. Alicia Keys announced the highly anticipated list for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards during an early morning ceremony on Monday (Dec. 7), in which the "Can't Feel My Face" singer was revealed to be up for two of the night's biggest honours, Record of the Year and Album of the Year.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar leads all nominees with 11 nods, while Taylor Swift is up for three trophies: Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Record of the Year. Drake captured five nominations, including Best Rap Album for If You're Reading This It's Too Late.

Noticeably absent from the list are Justin Bieber and Adele, both of whom released hit albums in November. The cut-off date for eligible music is Sept. 30, so the chart-topping talents will have to wait until next year to go for Grammy gold.

The 2016 Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on Feb. 15 on City.
