The theme of Mariah Carey's recent birthday party? Mariah Carey!

Mariah Carey has proven that no theme is off limits where her parties are concerned. For her 46th birthday, the singer looked inward for inspiration and asked everyone to show up at the bash dressed in their favourite Mariah Carey look.

And in true Mariah form, the pop icon hosted the self-indulgent soirée in Lake Como, Italy while she enjoyed a break from the European leg of her Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour.

According to Us Weekly the whole event happened at the Airbnb in which she was staying (some reports say it's the luxurious Villa Napoleon, which normally rents for $12,250 per night). The superstar hosted 40 to 50 of her closest pals and each had to adhere to the dress code.

Mariah dressed as her raven-locked alter-ego, Bianca, sporting a dark-brown wig and a black leotard and tights. She shared an image of her ensemble on Instagram with the caption: "Bianca returns." The last time the singer presented her other self was in the 1999 music video for "Heartbreaker."

The whole shindig was reportedly filmed as part of the "Fantasy" singer's new eight-part docuseries, Mariah's World.

"I'm excited to bring my fans into my life for the next journey I'm about to embark on," she said in a press release related to the show. "I'm already having so much fun with this documentary and I know you will too. There is nothing like capturing these moments."

It's been a busy year for the mom of two. Not only is she currently touring the world, but she's also in the middle of planning her wedding to Australian James Packer.
