Listen to this: New singles by Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys

By Nicholas Jennings

Two of pop’s biggest superstars returned to the spotlight this week after lengthy absences – Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys. Their new songs, one a slower burner and the other featuring an instantly irresistible groove, are already destined to fill the airwaves and dance floors.

Alicia Keys: “In Common”
Alicia’s new song teases the Grammy winner’s long-awaited followup to 2012’s Girl on Fire album. The “Empire State of Mind” singer delivers a slower, hushed vocal than we’re used to, but it’s a deeply seductive, hypnotic number in which Alicia tells that special someone “if you could love somebody like me, you must be messed up too.” With its infectious Latin-inspired vibe, the song seems certain to become one of this year’s summer jams.

Alicia, who appears on SNL this weekend and will perform at the May 28 UEFA Champions League Final in Italy, wasted no time in announcing the new single via Twitter – with a photo featuring a sultry new look.

Justin Timberlake: “Can’t Stop the Feeling”
When it comes to anticipated summer jams, it will be hard to outdo the good-time feel of JT’s latest. Like Alicia, the former NSYNC member hasn’t had a new album in a few years, so fans are pumped for something fresh. Justin called in some favours for his video. Along with friends invited to join him in the studio, celebrities including Gwen Stefani, James Corden and Anna Kendrick are all seen singing and dancing along to the disco-funk number.

JT’s Instagram account, meanwhile, is packed with clips like this of the “SexyBack” singer and his friends throwing down their best dance moves.
