Listen to this: Halloween songs from Stephen Colbert and James Corden

By Nicholas Jennings

Let’s face it: there simply aren’t enough good Halloween songs. Sure, there’s Warren Zevon’s howling-at-the-moon “Werewolves of London" and Michael Jackson’s incomparably chilling “Thriller,” but those are both more than 30 years old. And Bobby “Boris” Pickett’s classic “Monster Mash” is even older. So why haven’t songwriters stepped up with new bewitching tunes about ghouls and goblins? Leave it to late-night TV to remedy the situation, as Stephen Colbert and James Corden both weigh in with new spooky and scarily funny takes on music for fright night.

Stephen Colbert and Run the Jewels: “The Halloween Wiggle”
The host of The Late Show teams up with rap duo Run the Jewels for this humorous response to the “Monster Mash.” While Stephen tries hard to keep the song family-oriented, RTJ’s Killer Mike and El-P keep pushing the number into risqué territory with lines like “I’m about to find out if you’re a trickie or a treatie.”

James Corden and Niall Horan: “Candy"
Former One Direction singer Niall turned up on The Late Late Show and together with James delivered a playful Halloween jam set to the tune of Ginuwine’s “Pony.” The video shows James dressed as Batman trick-or-treating at a baffled woman’s house, while Niall in a pirate costume receives a better reception in a scene involving a seductive use of candy.
