Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel are preparing to baptize their new addition,Prince Oscar, who is the couple's second child and first son. Born on March 2, the baby boy will be christened on Friday May 27 at the palace's royal chapel in Stockholm.
It is the same venue where many Swedish royals have been baptised, including Oscar's big sister Princess Estelle, who turned four in February.
The baby's godparents have yet to be announced, but it is likely that some of Victoria and Daniel's relatives will take up the role.
When the couple's first child Estelle was born, they asked Victoria's brother Prince Carl Philip to act as a godfather, while Daniel's sister Anna Westling-Söderström was chosen as a godmother. Carl Philip is also a godfather to his sister Princess Madeleine's son Prince Nicolas, who was born last June.
Royal watchers are also speculating that baby Oscar will wear the same christening gown used by his sister Estelle, his mum Victoria, and his grandfather King Carl XVI Gustaf.
Baby Oscar, who is now third-in-line to the Swedish throne and styled as the Duke of Skåne, was born at the Karolinska Hospital last month. His father Prince Daniel addressed the media to confirm the little prince was born weighing eight pounds and measuring 22 inches long.
With a big smile, former personal trainer Daniel said that both mother and baby were doing well, adding: "I have not had time to feel just yet how it feels to be a father of two. But it feels good so far!"
Shortly after the birth, proud parents Victoria and Daniel released a photo of their daughter Estelle cuddling up to her new baby brother.
Alongside it was a message of thanks to the public that read: "Many thanks for all greetings, good wishes and congratulations we received in connection with Princess Estelle's birthday and Prince Oscar's birth. We appreciate all the concern and that so many share our joy."
A second sweet image of Victoria, who has since returned to the royal spotlight, was shared on the palace's official website.
By the time Oscar is christened, the Swedish royal family will have welcomed the arrival of another new prince or princess. Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia are expecting their first child, due in April. The couple said their baby's gender will be a surprise.
