The Queen poses with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and the rest of the royal kids in new birthday portrait

To ring in her milestone 90th birthday, the Queen called on the next generation of royals to join her for a special family portrait. Surrounded by her five great-grandchildren and her two youngest grandchildren, the monarch is the picture of happiness posing for famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.

The history-making photograph, taken at Windsor Castle shortly after Easter, sees Her Majesty front and centre with Princess Charlotte propped on her lap. Prince George, who turns three on July 22, stands to the right of his "Gan-Gan" alongside his cousins, Savannah Phillips, 5, and three-year-old Isla. On the Queen's left stand her youngest grandchildren, Lady Louise, 12, and James, Viscount Severn, 8. Last but not least, little Mia Tindall, the two-year-old daughter of Zara and Mike Tindall, has the important task of holding her great-grandmother's black handbag.

The Queen poses with her dogs Willow, Vulcan, Candy and Holly.

The new portrait is one of three released by the palace in celebration of the Queen's birthday on Apr. 21. In another stunning image, the monarch is photographed with four of her beloved dogs on the steps of Windsor Castle's East Terrace overlooking the property's East Garden.

The portraits were taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.

In the third and final image, the Queen sits in the castle's White Drawing Room with her only daughter, Princess Anne.

The new birthday photos come one day after the Royal Mail released their commemorative stamp portrait featuring four generations of heirs. And while he may be the youngest future monarch, Prince George steals the show as he stands on a stack of books with a little help from his father Prince William.
