Many have dreamed of living in Buckingham Palace, and now they've got a chance to get their feet in the door! The Queen is currently seeking a dishwasher at her official London residence who will also help prepare her food.
The full-time kitchen porter position, which is listed on the royal household website, comes with an annual salary of $28,860, 33 holiday days and benefits. What's more, the lucky employee also has the option to live at the royal residence and will have all of their meals provided for them.
The job, which is for five days a week, requires the candidate to "clean equipment and utensils" for daily use as well as assist with serving and food preparation. The listing states: "You'll assist the team by maintaining the wash-up environment, ensuring our chefs and assistants have all they need to deliver hundreds of staff meals every day."
The kitchen porter may also be required to travel to other royal residences, and candidates should be prepared to "embrace this challenge and the many others that come your way".
Of course, working for the royal household is different from other jobs – not least because of "the collaboration and the community spirit. And it's helping to deliver extraordinary service in incredible surroundings," the listing states. As far as the actual kitchen porter role goes, it will provide "the feeling of satisfaction from helping to deliver a spotless service".
Previous experience isn't essential – but a candidate should be "a natural team player", "happy to get involved" and must "take care and pride in your work".
An individual with a "good understanding of food hygiene and safety" is a plus, but training can be provided for those who are keen to "develop skills and gain experience in an exceptional catering environment".
So, if you're ready to serve the Duchess of Cambridge at the Queen's next state banquet, or catch a glimpse of Prince George roaming the palace halls, apply before the position closes on 20 July… And if working in the kitchen isn't your area of interest, the monarch is also looking for a linen keeper, daily cleaner and office assistant at Buckingham Palace, in addition to a cataloguer and apprentice bookbinder for Windsor Castle.
